Sunday, two hours before closing we got hit by a heavy thunderstorm. The customers in my booth stayed undercover for shelter... It took about five minutes to go from "wow, look how dark the sky is getting" to something that was as near a hurricane as I ever hope to come. 65 mph winds. 3+ inches of rain and hail in less than an hour. And the temperature dropped 45 degrees. These two are hanging on the wall so it won't lift off. Imagine how much fun they must have when they're NOT in the middle of a disaster! Now ladies- the next time you think about wearing grey undies under loose white pants, just remember that you could end up soaking wet, and the world will KNOW. We were very lucky. No one near us was hurt, I didn't lose any work, and all of my display was salvageable. Even the soaking wet stinking rug, which Frank wouldn't let me abandon. My gratitude to the big hearted and hearty souls who turned a possible disaster into an opportunity for fellowship. May you all be so lucky in times of need. I would. This is my delightful neighbor Steven Summerville after the rain. He's holding little things of his that he retrieved from the flood plain. His pottery is beautiful, and I like what he says about it. "I take great pleasure in making strong, simple forms that are completely useful, fun to look at and that make everyday living more interesting and satisfying." Check it out, and you can see him with some clothes on.
and end up being recruited to help hold the booth down!
Luckily- I had the wonder-patrons, who not only helped, but laughed while they did it!
Our cheerleaders.
My heroes.
And their slap-happy hosts.
Would you buy pottery from this man??
